Final Diagrams
To go along with my final model, I was asked to show diagrams that really expressed why I chose to do my model the way that I did. The three diagrams that I chose to focus on where Natural Light, People Circulation and Symmetry. I first had to show my installation in plan and elevation
and then incorporate the individual diagrams into the installation itself:
1. Natural Light
2. People Circulation
and
3. Symmetry
These different diagrams best describe the way my mind was thinking what I was creating this installation for the MIT Lobby at 700 Mass Ave.

Final Model
In the previous post I showed some sketch models that I though were going to be my final model, but my final model is nothing like them!!!!
HERE IT IS!!!!!
This interior for the MIT Lobby at 700 Mass Ave is still a news stand but it acts as a different kind. Instead of having a news stand that people can sit and relax at, I thought about how the people move in and out of this building very quickly and don't really have time to stop and buy a news paper before a class. What I decided to do was think about all the free news papers and flyers MIT Students make to pass out to people. This would be the place to give them out. This interior space is at the front of the building where the most activity happens and people can grab-and-go (so to speak) and if they pick something up that they don't want, there would be recycling and trash bins at their disposal as well. This project of for the MIT students, teachers and visitors to see what is going on at MIT and what the students are thinking about with their experiences at this school.

Final Model
The last part to the final project is to think of a place to put into your building, something that people will interact with but get in the way of how they already travel through out this place.
My idea for the MIT Lobby at 700 Mass Ave os to have a news stand of some kind with sitting (because it you go into the lobby, there is really no where to sit besides a couple of tables).
Here are some sketch models that I started thinking about:

Final Project Diagrams
For the MIT Lobby at 700 Mass Ave, I chose to focus on four different diagrams.
First we had to show the floor plan of the building and an elevation that we wanted to focus on:
These are the diagrams:
1. Hierarchy

Final Project
YES!!!! This semester is almost OVER!!!!!! It has been such a fun experience and I loved ever second of it. But back to the task at hand, Final Project!!!
For our final project, my class was assigned the MIT Lobby at 700 Mass Ave. It is an intersection for people to go from one MIT building to another.
Here are some pictures I took on a visit to the site:

The building itself is really cool. It has a wonderful staircase at the front for people to get in and out of the building and above is a huge dome like fixture protecting the building.
Going to the site, we had to observe as well.
Natural light, circulation, structure, hierarchy, etc.
The next part of this project is to diagram different things we observed in this building.

BPL Drawing
It has been a long and extensive project, but I feel like my part of it came out very well.
For the final drawing we were asked to make a orthographical drawing of out building, thankfully my teacher said that because each room in the library is important in itself, I only had to draw one of the rooms instead of the whole building.
It was challenging at first, but after my second draft, I started to get the hang of it, and this is what I got!!!
(Ignore the different colors of the paper, that is just how they scanned)
This is the reading room of the older building to the Boston Public Library, it is located on the second floor ad is such a magnificent place to just sit and read. It was a lot of fun to really get to know the older part of the library because I was always just in the new part, so it was nice to travel back in time.

Perspective
YES!!!
I love perspective drawings, they are so much fun to do and I am very good at it.
This is a little exercise we did in class on two point perspective:
For this next project we were give a place to draw, but in a perspective view. My teacher gave my class and I the choice between four different buildings to do our perspectives with. I chose to do the Christian Science Church here in Boston, and I was very excited.
Here are the three perspectives I chose to do of it:
Three point perspective (or sortof one) Two point perspective
This project was fun because it took me back to when I first realized I wanted to be an architect and the first project I did that year in high school was perspective!!

Boston Research Project
This is the biggest project i think I have ever done in my life!!!!!
The second to last project is all about a certain building in Boston that each of us has to research, study and draw.
Thankfully, I got the Boston Public Library at Copley Plaza because it is an easy research subject and I already have books on it.
LETS START RESEARCHING!!!!!

Object Revisited
This next project is all about the can opener, again. But the difference with this project is that we are actually looking at the object itself. We were looking at the can opener for all those projects before, but they were translated in an abstract fashion. This project is all about the can opener and how it actually looks. For this project, we were asked to draw the object in a orthographical, oblique drawing, but also have two different section cuts through the object to show the function of it.
This project was very difficult, not only because of the way that we had to draw it, but because of the fact that we had to section cut something that we had no idea what was really going on in side the object, but I feel I did pretty well on the final drawings.

Transformation
Still with the object, the can opener, the next project is all about thinking about how you can take different pieces of the object and transform them to make an abstraction of that object.
The first part of this project, I was asked to draw out the object in an orthographical, oblique drawing of the object with a clear representation of the different transformations that I made during the process. Here are some of the drawings:
This drawing represents all the individual shapes that I saw when looking at the can opener, just thinking about what shapes make this can opener function.
This drawing in collaboration with the top one to see the main forms that came to my eye when looking at the can opener. But the main thing about this point in the process, I started focusing on the positive vs the negative space the can opener makes within itself.
This drawing shows how I started to take away those negative spaces in contrast with the positive space (all the pieces being removed are negative spaces)
Then after extracting those different pieces, I spilt the positive piece into three pieces to give it more depth and starting thinking about how I was going to put all of these pieces together to make my final model.
This is an orthographical projection of my final model, and here is my model:
