Transformation

Still with the object, the can opener, the next project is all about thinking about how you can take different pieces of the object and transform them to make an abstraction of that object.
The first part of this project, I was asked to draw out the object in an orthographical, oblique drawing of the object with a clear representation of the different transformations that I made during the process. Here are some of the drawings:
This drawing represents all the individual shapes that I saw when looking at the can opener, just thinking about what shapes make this can opener function.
This drawing in collaboration with the top one to see the main forms that came to my eye when looking at the can opener. But the main thing about this point in the process, I started focusing on the positive vs the negative space the can opener makes within itself.
This drawing shows how I started to take away those negative spaces in contrast with the positive space (all the pieces being removed are negative spaces)
Then after extracting those different pieces, I spilt the positive piece into three pieces to give it more depth and starting thinking about how I was going to put all of these pieces together to make my final model.
This is an orthographical projection of my final model, and here is my model:

Moving Models

The next part for the project Object in Motion was to represent your object movement in a 3-Dimentional model. At first I was having some trouble trying to represent this, but in my first sketch model, this is what I came up with

This model was a good one, I think it showed it's movement very well, but my teacher gave me some really good feedback and I knew that I was going to have to change what the actual model would look like to make it look like the way my teacher was thinking it could look like (if that makes sense). But here was my final model that did make my teacher happy (but I could tell he wanted more, but that's life)

Object in Motion

Project 3 (but same object from project 2)
This project had me look at my can opener again but instead of looking at just the thing itself, it was time to look at how the can opener moved in a way to do what it was made for.
For my drawing of this project, I focused on two important movements on the can opener.
1. The way to turn the wheel to cut into a can to open it
2. The way one would open the handles to get the can in and out of the can opener.
This is the drawing that I came up with.

This was really there to help me figure out what I was going to do for my model, which is next on the assignment list.
