Final Diagrams

To go along with my final model, I was asked to show diagrams that really expressed why I chose to do my model the way that I did. The three diagrams that I chose to focus on where Natural Light, People Circulation and Symmetry. I first had to show my installation in plan and elevation
and then incorporate the individual diagrams into the installation itself:
1. Natural Light
2. People Circulation
and
3. Symmetry
These different diagrams best describe the way my mind was thinking what I was creating this installation for the MIT Lobby at 700 Mass Ave.

Final Model

In the previous post I showed some sketch models that I though were going to be my final model, but my final model is nothing like them!!!!
HERE IT IS!!!!!

This interior for the MIT Lobby at 700 Mass Ave is still a news stand but it acts as a different kind. Instead of having a news stand that people can sit and relax at, I thought about how the people move in and out of this building very quickly and don't really have time to stop and buy a news paper before a class. What I decided to do was think about all the free news papers and flyers MIT Students make to pass out to people. This would be the place to give them out. This interior space is at the front of the building where the most activity happens and people can grab-and-go (so to speak) and if they pick something up that they don't want, there would be recycling and trash bins at their disposal as well. This project of for the MIT students, teachers and visitors to see what is going on at MIT and what the students are thinking about with their experiences at this school.

Final Model

The last part to the final project is to think of a place to put into your building, something that people will interact with but get in the way of how they already travel through out this place.
My idea for the MIT Lobby at 700 Mass Ave os to have a news stand of some kind with sitting (because it you go into the lobby, there is really no where to sit besides a couple of tables).
Here are some sketch models that I started thinking about:

These two sketch models are representations on what I want my final to look like
